What a nice day to get out! Nice and cool, in the mid 50's, sunny skies, mild wind conditions from the North West. Perfect for going to Keene. I wore arms, knees, head cap, mask, and a jacket. I ended up removing layers later in the ride. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it to the summit of OTR in good time. I cruised the downhill and put two digs on the risers. I didn't bother checking the time when I reached the base. Once there, I stopped to remove layers. I removed my jacket. During this time, I did an inventory check. I noticed that I was missing my house keys in my right jersey pocket. I was almost certain that I took them. After glancing around, I didn't see them on the ground. I tried not to panic. I convinced myself that I put them elsewhere and forgot to bring them. So, I got on with business. I stopped at the Chavez center to adjust the jacket around my waist because it was slipping. I decided to remove my head cap and face mask while I was at it. From there, I headed up the mountain. I stopped once more to adjust my left knee warmer. After that, it was non-stop climbing. The legs and body felt good. I was able to settle into a good tempo, doing in and out of the saddle efforts. The landmarks went by quick. After the second dip, my morale was feeling better. I kept the tempo going to the summit. I was near max when I got there. After reaching the summit, I took a few moments to recover while on the bike. I didn't bother checking the time. After the bit of recovery, I headed back home. I shut it down at the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. The morale was good today and my patience was in check. I was in the zone most of the time with minimal lapses or gremlins. Balance and form was good. I am going to raise the saddle a bit as I was sitting a bit low. Ailments were minimal. Just some hand numbness and a bit of tenderness in the right knee. I figure the saddle height adjustment might help the knee soreness. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs. I went through most of my sport drink. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, to my surprise, no cyclists to be seen today. Pity.
