I had lab in the morning at 9:40 AM. When I got there, they were closed. So, I finished an errand and then went back home. I fed half a banana, some grapes and apple sauce. I decided to skip the usual nap and just go for a bike ride. The weather was on the cold side. It seemed colder than the temperature shown on my smartphone. I was smart enough to take my jacket and a face mask. The legs were a bit heavy to start. At least the wind was going the favorable direction for this ride. I didn't bother checking my time at the top of the descent. Likely good average time at best. I took the time to put on my face mask that I had stowed away on my saddle bag. I cruised the downhill and put in two digs on the risers. I stopped once to adjust the velcro strap on the saddle because I forgot to tighten it when I removed my face mask just before the descent. From there, it was non-stop to the base. I was getting bit cold, but my jacket saved the day. After reaching the base, I headed back without hesitation. I immediately settled into a tempo that I could sustain to the summit. I was focusing on the landmarks. I was feeling better in the morale after passing the dips. I kept my momentum going all the way to the summit while doing in and out of the saddle efforts. There was some traffic mitigation, so I was on alert. After reaching the summit, I sat up to recover. From there, I headed back home. I shut it down at the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. Perhaps a bit on the impatient side here and there. I had minimal lapses and no gremlins. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. Some mild hand numbness. I think my GI was slightly sour at times, but never escalated. Nutrition was good. I fed enough before the ride to hold me over. I went through about half my sport drink. No water. Other notes, there was one cyclist at the Loop Monument. I couldn't tell if he had a mechanical or if he was just taking a break. It looked like a mechanical.
