It’s raining out. I wanted to put in a carry override. So, I chose to ride a route on the Zwift NY map. I hopped into a Robo Pacer group. It was supposed to be a 2.2 W/kg average ride. I had to scrap the first attempt because the rear derailleur wasn’t functioning. After fiddling with it for a quick moment, I got it to work. So, I hoped in a second time. For some reason, I fell behind. I think I had to make an adjustment of some sort. So, I fell behind by about 20-ish seconds. I figured I could catch up to them, so I kept going. I was putting in 2.8 W/kg. I thought I could catch them in about 5 minutes of time. 5 minutes went by, so I upped the tempo to 3 W/kg. More minutes went by and I couldn’t close the gap. I tried once more, but it wasn’t to be. So, I pulled the plug. I decided to go at my own pace from that point on forward. The map was undulating, so I was digging in on the uphills and recovering on the downhills. I decided to put in at least a half hour of riding. After about 35 minutes of riding, I decided to turn around in a few moments time. I was wondering if I could cross paths with the Robo Pacer, going the opposite direction. After about 40 minutes, no such luck. So, I shut it down and commenced the cooldown phase. I let the HR go down to 112 BPM and then hopped off.
Concentration was good. I was motivated to catch up to the Robo Pacer. Too bad I couldn’t close the gap. Perhaps this is unfinished business. Balance and form was good. I like the position on the Madone for indoor training. I feel solid on this bike. Nutrition was good. I fed a banana, grapes, apple sauce and some Gatorade before the start of the ride. That held me over plenty. I am going to make some adjustments to my diet. It seems I keep running low on energy before my morning rides. I was thinking honey and waffles. Not to go overboard on it, though. Ailments were non-existent. The hands felt good, even without gloves. Gear worked flawlessly after getting the rear derailleur to wake up. Other notes, I think there were around 1000 riders on the NY map when I hopped on. Also, I leveled up, or am very close to it.
