The weather is great now! In the mid 50’s. Favorable winds from the North West. I wore arms, knees, head cap, jacket and normal gloves. The legs felt good to start. I made it to the summit of OTR in good average time. The Banducci Wall had traffic mitigation, otherwise went as planned. The remainder of the climb was mostly moderate tempo to the summit. Afte reaching the summit, I pulled over to take a breather. I let traffic by and then headed down the mountain. I pulled over once on a turnout to let traffic by. From there, it was non-stop descent to the valley floor. The trek through the farmlands went quickly. I did good time. I reached Boss Hogs in under 1:03. So, I gave up just a minute or two. The last climb felt good. I was doing no less then moderate tempo to the summit. I kept my tempo going over the summit. After making it there, I pulled over to feed a Clif Bar. Shortly after, I got back on the road and made my way to Route 202. Route 202 had minimal traffic mitigation, so it went safe and quick. Descending off OTR was mostly fun and games. I was able to relax and enjoy it. I pushed over Mariposa and then shut it down at the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. I had minimal lapses and no gremlins worth noting. Balance and form was good. I am going to move my saddle forward a bit. Ailments were minimal. Some minor right hand numbness was all. The legs and knees were good. Nutrition was good. I had a banana, grapes, and apple sauce before departing. I drank about 3/4ths of my sport drink, a Clif Bar with water. Gear worked flawlessly. Although, the GPS didn’t announce turns or other notifications. More investigating about that later. Other notes, no cyclists today.
