I was reluctant to get up from my morning nap to get in a ride. I convinced myself to get out. As soon as I got up, I was ready to go. The weather looked great. About 60 degrees. Winds from the North West. I wore arms, knees, thin base layer, head cap and a jacket. That held me over to the base of the climb. I didn't bother checking the time to the summit of the descent, but the metrics shows I did good average time. I put in two digs on the risers. I also forgot to check the time to the base, the metrics shows that I made it there in good average time. After reaching the base, I headed back. I decided to stop at the Chavez Center to remove clothing. I removed my jacket and head cap. After that I got back on the road with no further stops. I had stuff to think about, so that kept me concentrated. I took a phone call using the music speaker. I ended up asking the caller to call me back later. The landmarks went quick. The body was responding well. The morale was good. I was doing no less then moderate tempo while doing in and out of the saddle efforts. The GPS announcements helped because I was able to keep my eyes on the road. I am now getting a feel for the common wattages I put out. After reaching the summit, I took a few moments to recover on the bike and then made my way back home. I shut it down after the dig to the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. I had stuff to think about. I needed this ride to sort out my thoughts. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. I had some mild hand numbness while digging out of the saddle. Nutrition was good. I had half a banana, some grapes, a bit of apple sauce, a Clif BAr and some Gatorade before the ride. That held me over plenty. Gear worked flawlessly. I have to learn how to take calls with the music speaker. Other notes, there were some people at the Loop monument and a guy asking about the construction (carbon) of my bike as I was passing by I gave him a shout out with a thumbs up. I had a good sense of humor.
