It’s cold and cloudy out. I decided to ride on Zwift. I put in a good Zwift ride a couple days ago, so I wanted to get something in between. I chose to join a 2.2 W/kg Robo Pacer group. The course winds around Watopia. From the desert area, back to the volcano area. It was enough to get the heart working, but not so much in the reserves. The initial hop into the group is the most shocking. It took about 5 minutes for my body to acclimate to the tempo. After that, I was able to hold my position within my limits and then some. I tried to keep it below 3 W/kg. I initially wanted to put in 30 minutes but decided to try for 45 minutes. In the end, I put in about 18 miles before commencing the cooldown phase. The ride was very steady. No sudden accelerations. The uphill segments were very modest. I think I had an easier time keeping up then the last time I joined a similar Robo Pacer group. I’m not sure why. After we made our way around and then to the Volcano, it was around 45 minutes. I gave it another minute or two before calling it a day. After completing the ride, I commenced the cooldown for a few minutes till the HR went to 112 BPM.
Concentration was good. Patience was in check. No gremlins to speak of. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. I fed half a banana, some grapes and a Clif Bar before the ride. That held me over plenty. Ailments were minimal. Just some mild hand soreness. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, there were over 10,000 riders when I hopped on the Watopia map.
