Other than the temperature, what a horrible day for a ride. The wind was strong and turbulent. I had a headwind for a good chunk of the climb. I wasn't even paying attention to time. Today was the first ride since I got the bike back yesterday, from the local bike shop. Turns out that the retaining cap was bottoming out. So, the mechanic added a small spacer, and that did the trick. No need to replace any shifters. Aside from the horrible weather conditions, the bike felt great. No more clunking noises. Will have to say thanks to Marvin for doing good work. The bike feels like new! The return trip from Keene was hellish. I didn't feel like my normal self in the first mile or two. My head was cold, body not so responsive and the horrible wind conditions to top it off. I was focused on the landmarks. Just talking myself through them. By the time I got out of the gauntlet, my body started to feel like my normal self. I think I just needed to get warmed up. It almost felt like I was bonking. I was doing moderate tempo most of the way up. The saddle height was changed, so I had to adjust it before the descent. On the ascent, my lower back was a bit sore, so I think I need to lower it another 1/4 inch or so. Balance and form felt good. Ailments, lower back soreness. Gear is working great. I have to lube the chain before the next ride. Other notes, no other cyclists today.
