Great Divide mountain bike route day 16 Meaden Peak CO to Rawlings WY Big day that started with finishing rough descent of Meadan Peak road to gradually improving dirt roads to the Wyoming Colorado order. The landscape changed almost immediately with open high desert vistas. Gradually the road climbed to Aspen forests with a surprising amount of water along the route. About 40 miles of dirt and 60 miles of pavement made for fast rolling with some helpful tailwind. Got a much needed hotel (thanks G) to restock food , have a steak dinner, shower for the first time in five days and wash clothes. Tomorrow will be another big day across the great basin. Rode part of the day with a UK rider who was on an old road bike with 38 mm gravel tires with tubes and wobbly back wheel. It’s amazing that he could get through the worst stretches .
