That many feet of climbing in 25 miles is not that unusual when riding in Maryland at 450 feet elevation (or less) ... but ... at 6000+ feet, well, it's quiiiiite the challenge. The last stretch from 20 to 25 was gravel and there was struggling. No walking, but plenty of stoppage to get breathing under control ... But such a lovely ride in the high desert south of Santa Fe. As soon as it turned away from the freeway (yes, as a matter of fact, that ride DID start at a rest stop and Dude put his bike over the fence to make it happen) it was extremely quiet and pastoral all the way to NM 14. Even that state highway wasn't bad, though there was a bit of traffic, more than expected for a weekday morning. Once in Cerrillos (no idea why the map calls it "Los" since the signage at the town makes no mention of no "Los") it was still extremely quiet. Zero traffic on the dirt road. Met a state truck in the first half mile and then there was nothing after that...
