Today's weather was much more pleasant that the previous ride. The winds were from the North-West. Heat exhaustion was more easily mitigated. My legs felt pretty good from the beginning and stayed with me for most of the ride. It didn't take much time to get warmed up. I was sufficiently warmed up by the end of OTR. I felt good going up the Banducci wall and was able to maintain a good pace up the remainder of the climb. I kept my pace nice and steady to the summit of SS. No digs, just steady and out of the saddle only when necessary. I reached the SS tunnel in about 1 hour. The return trip was pretty much what I expected. The winds were cross-tail, so I never really had that perfect wind on the back. Nevertheless, I was able to do good tempo through the farmlands. I made it to Boss Hogs in about 1:20 hrs. When I reached the base of CVR, I slowed down, stretched and commenced the climb. I felt good. I pushed a little bit when was on the steeper sections, and let off as the gradient decreased. Again, stretched at the end of the last climb and continued. From that point on, I was able to relax the downhill and stretched as I reached the end of OTR. The last leg was nice and steady. Out of the saddle only when the road kicked up. Ailments... My lower left back was sore on a few occasions. My left hip was a bit sore on a few occasions. I think my right thigh hurt for a few moments. No game stoppers though. I was able to mitigate the pains by stretching and letting off the pace a bit. Concentration was spot on. Balance wasn't so good. Maybe average. Gear is working well. The gopro worked flawless. I put the camera in a skeleton housing. No telling how it will behave when the weather heats up again. The bike continues to click, mostly when out of the saddle. I tightened my cleats. That didn't seem to make a difference.
