Yes, today is the summer solstice here in Los Angeles. But today is Willkakuti, the *winter* solstice celebration in Bolivia, Chile, and Southern Peru. Willkakuti means "Return of the Sun" in the language of the Aymara people of the Bolivian Andes. The biggest celebrations occur at Tiwanaku, the ancient site of an Aymara city in western Bolivia that was first occupied in 200 or 300 BC and grew to 10,000 to 20,000 people by AD 800. Willkakuti was declared a national holiday in Bolivia in 2009.
I continue to try to ride longer routes with plenty of climbing, looking forward to the Giro Bello on July 12, where I'm planning to ride the metric century, with 2,700 feet of climing. So today I went *up* Benedict Canyon. I think this is my first time up Benedict. It's not especially steep. The switchbacks near the top add a mile and smooth out the climb. I tried to eat a lot and drink lots of hydration mix.
I started to feel a little worn out at the end of the Mulholland pavement, after 25 miles and 2,500 feet of climbing, but I decided to go down to Sherman Oaks and climb back up Sepulveda anyway. It wasn't too hard. There was a lot of honking in the Sepulveda tunnel. I choose to believe the drivers were honking to encourage me!

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.

Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.
