Today was the first complete ride with the new pedals and the adjusted cleats. On the way out, I noticed how much more comfortable my left leg felt with that bit of heal-out play. At that point I noticed my right foot and that it did not have as much heal-out play. When I turned around, my leg felt like it could have used a bit more heal-out play. A bit further down the road, I stopped on a curb and adjusted the heal-out screw. I noticed an immediate difference. Just that little extra play felt like my leg was hooking up better. Before the ride, I adjusted the cleats so that my feet were as close to the inside as possible. I think I might try moving them out just a bit to see what it feels like. As for the ride. The weather was turbulent and rained for about 5 minutes. Highline had a cross-headwind on the way out. I cruised it and kept the tempo nice and easy. The return trip had a cross-wind. I was able to hold a higher tempo than days that have head-winds. Overall, I felt pretty good. I was able to test the pedal system to the limit. There were times where I was mashing the pedals to see how my legs felt. They felt really good. I probably should have tightened my shoes because I was beginning to feel the play from not strapping them down hard enough. Needless to say, I felt real good today. Almost no ailments. Some soreness in the left hip, but that lasted under 1 minute or so. I was mostly concentrated on my new position, very few lapses. Gear is working perfect. There were no mystery clicks today. Being that it rained, I was a bit worried about the Gopro because I was using an open housing. I haven't looked at the footage yet, but it didn't stop. Will have to download the videos and see how they came out. As for balance, being that I was riding my new position for only the second day... There still remains some tweaking, but I think I'm headed in the right direction. Will be interesting to see how my body reacts on longer rides. I want to do a double soon. Which means I have to leave 2x bottles in the mailbox. Other notes, I'm approaching 1000k feet climbed. Will likely happen in the next ride to Keene.
