It’s a great day to get out. It has cooled off by about 5 degrees. I was a bit reluctant to get out, but managed to drag my body out of bed before it was too late. It’s in the upper 60’s, low 70’s. Winds from the North West. I wore the standard kit. The legs felt pretty good to start. My right knee was complaining the other day. I found out that the right cleat slipped out of position. I corrected it yesterday. It felt better today. I made it to the top of WTR in good average time. I cruised the downhill and put in two digs on the risers. I was a bit impatient to start, but felt better as I neared the base of the climb. I made it to the base in good average time. After making it there, I headed back with no hesitation. The first mile was warmup time. After making it past the gauntlet, I was in tune. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts, trying to keep the tempo going. The landmarks went quick and I had some things to think about. That plus the music and GPS announcements kept me focused and in the zone. I let the intensity increase as I approached the summit. After cresting the summit, I took a few moments to recover on the bike. At this time, I decided to add the OTR Summit to the ride. I wasn’t paying attention time. The body felt good and the miles went quick. I turned around at the summit (as planned) and headed back home. I pushed over Mariposa and the dig up Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I had minimal lapses and no gremlins to mention. Balance and form was good. The cleat realignment feels good. More confirmation needed, though. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal, half a banana and some grapes before the start of the ride. I drank all of my sport drink and some water. Ailments were minimal. I am getting slight soreness in the right inner hip, near the tendon. I am keeping an eye on it. The right knee felt good, but hinted on soreness in places. Gear worked flawlessly. Although, a mystery click persists. Other notes, I saw two cyclists on their way down as I was climbing Keene near the Loop Base.
