The weather is cool. It was in the mid 60's or so with winds from the North West. I wore the standard summer kit. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it to the top of OTR in good average time. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation. I was out of the saddle on a good portion of the climb. I was near max over the top, but had matches to burn. I recovered on the flats and completed the climb. I took a few moments to recover once I reached the summit. I let traffic by and then headed down the mountain. The descent was safe. I took my time while minding the oncoming traffic. The trek through the farmlands to SS was enjoyable. I was riding into a slight headwind. As I passed the front entrance, I took a few moments to stretch on the bike. I made my way around the backside. After catching my breath, I headed downhill. I put in a good sprint. I stopped at the local park to take a quick bio. Earlier in the ride, I realized that I forgot to bring an extra water bottle. So, I decided to stop at the local mini-mart. I passed the tunnel in about 1:06 hours and change. When I made it to the mini-mart, I checked to see if they had water. They had what appeared to be plain water, but I wasn't sure. So, I opted for the smallest bottle of Gatorade they had. Turns out that I didn't need it. But, I bought it to be safe. Then I got back on the road after stashing the Gatorade bottle into the saddle bag. The trek through the farmlands was quick. I had a nice tailwind along the way. I passed Boss Hogs in about 1:29-ish hours. So, I gave up about 2 to 3 minutes on the return. The last climb went as planned. I kept the tempo moderate. I pushed over the top and then stopped to feed. I fed a Clif Bar with some water. After feeding, I got back on the road. I made my way to Route 202. There was some traffic, so I let them by before making my way to OTR. The OTR descent was enjoyable. I pushed over Mariposa and then to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I had minimal lapses and no gremlins worth mentioning. The morale felt good, especially with the good weather. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. I fed a Clif Bar during the ride and went through about half my sport drink. Ailments were minimal. Just the usual hand soreness. The muscles and joints felt good. Gear worked flawlessly, but there are still mystery clicks. I need to charge the Di2 battery. Other notes, I saw three cyclists and some friendly motorists.
