The weather continues to be great. About 70 degrees, cool winds from the North West. I wore the standard summer kit. Peggy joined me today for the first time during her vacation. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it to the summit of the descent in about 11 to 12 minutes. I wasn't rushing. We decided to regroup on the risers. I put in two sprints up the risers. On the third, we stopped at the Loop Monument to take some selfies. Peggy turned around at the Keene Ranch. I kept going to the bottom. Turned out to be ideal as we were both able to go at our own pace. I reached the bottom in average time. I headed back without delay. It took a mile before the climbing legs settled in. I had a few things to think about, the GPS announcements helped. I had incentive knowing someone was waiting for me at the top. The landmarks went quick. I was able to increase the tempo till I reached the top. After making it to the summit, I took a few moments to recover on the bike. We split ways from there. Peggy went back home, I added the OTR summit. It went as planned. I was warmed up. The legs weren't too heavy. I headed back once I reached the summit. The OTR descent was enjoyable. I pushed over Mariposa and then made my way back to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I was in the zone. The company helped. The morale and patience were on the good side. Ailments were minimal. Some hand soreness. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. I drank most of my sport drink, no water. Gear worked flawlessly. Interesting that the brakes continue to be whisper quiet. No squeaking since I put the knew brake pads months ago. Other notes, I saw three cyclists today (to my recollection).
Other notes. There were no visitors at the Loop Monument today. Nor any trains.
