Today was the first ride without company. The weather is beautiful. I got out a bit past 9AM. It was in the low 70's, winds from the North West. I wore the standard summer kit. I made it to the summit in good average time. I cruised the downhill and put two digs on the risers. I made it to the base in good average time. Once there, I headed back without hesitation. I let the climbing legs settle in for the first mile or two. I was feeling better when I made it past the Gauntlet. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts. Unfortunately, the GPS announcements wasn't working. I think I put it into TF mode so that I could listen to music. The landmarks went by quick. There was some road work, but I wasn't delayed. After making it to the summit, I took a few moments to recover on the bike and then headed to OTR. The legs were warmed up, so I didn't have the heavy legs feeling when going to OTR first. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts. The legs felt pretty good. After making it to the summit, I headed back. I reconnected the smartphone with the speaker. From that point on, it was working. I was guessing the time to home from the turn-around point. I was off by about 2 minutes. So, it takes a bit more than half the time it takes to get to the summit of OTR. I pushed over Mariposa. The legs weren't heavy as in other rides. I think the cool air helped. I did the grind to the top of Weston and shut it down.
Concentration was good. I had stuff to think about. Not having company wasn't so bad. Balance and form was good. Ailments, my knees were a bit sore yesterday, but didn't complain much today. Gear worked flawlessly. Still some mystery clicks. PerformanceBike gave me some tips that I'd like to try. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast.
