The weather is still warm, but it cooled off a fraction. I got up a bit later than I would have liked, but not so much. It was in the upper 70's perhaps 80 when I got out. Winds from the North West. The legs felt average to start. The metrics show that I made it to the top of OTR in good average time. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation from behind. I couldn't settle into a steady tempo because I was constantly watching my 6. Nevertheless, I made it to the top nearing max. The Alpine Forest climb went much more relaxing. I settled into a tempo and let the difficulty come to me. I was doing better in the morale after reaching the speed bumps. I was near max going over the top. I made my way around the backside. I had fun on the descent, reaching close to 40 MPH. From there, I made my way to the top of Banducci. I made it to the summit in good average time. Once there, I took a few moments to recover. I let the traffic by and then headed down the mountain. It was safe with minimal traffic from behind. Descending off the Banducci Wall was mostly safe. I did have a bit off nervousness, so I feathered the brakes just to keep things under control. After that, I did the Buffalo Run. I had a nice tailwind to the top of Highline. After making the circuit around the Buffalo neighborhood, I hopped back on Highline for the return. I was going into a headwind at this point. I made my way to OTR. The OTR descent was enjoyable. I pushed over Mariposa and then to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. My patience was in check. I was in the zone most of the time. I had stuff to think about and my music with announcements helped too. Balance and form was good. On the way back on the flats while descending off Banducci, I was leaning to the left a tad. A bit off center, noticeable enough to have to adjust my pedaling. Otherwise, I felt good. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal and some grapes for breakfast. I drank all of my sport drink with some water, no feeding. Ailments were minimal. Some mild hand soreness and numbness while grinding out of the saddle. Gear worked flawlessly. It seems the mystery clicks are less, but still apparent. Other notes, I saw three cyclists (one recognizable) today and a familiar walker.
