I have an appointment at 12:30 PM, so I had to get out earlier than usual. Turned out to be for the better as it was starting to get warm very quickly. The winds were from the North West, but slightly turbulent. I wore the standard summer kit. I brought an extra bottle of water and powder drink that I stashed in the mail locker. I got my new RMA shorts the other day. I tried them for the first time today and they feel great! I made it to the summit of the descent in good time. I cruised the downhill and put in two digs on the risers. After making it to the base (in good average time), I headed back without hesitation. At this point it felt like I had a mild tailwind, and the heat was starting to role in. I was a bit impatient to start, but felt better with each major landmark. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts to keep my momentum going. After the second dip, I was doing better in the morale. I kept my tempo going and tried not to let it dip down too much. I was listening to the music as I was nearing the summit, guessing the number of songs till I reach the top. After reaching the top, I took a few moments to recover and stretch on the bike. I made my way to the mail locker to pour a bottle of powder drink. I got back on the road and headed to OTR. OTR went quick. I was warmed up. After making it to the top, I made my way to the top of Highline and around the Buffalo neighborhood. Then I hopped back on Highline for the return. During this time, I ran over a slight gap in the road the jarred my front end. The Blenr mount broke. Fortunately, my gadgets didn’t break off. I ended up putting the GPS on the stem mount and removed the GoPro camera and put it in my jersey pocket. I pulled over when I reached OTR to feed. I fed a Clif Bar. After feeding, I got back on the road. The descent off OTR was enjoyable. I pushed over Mariposa and then to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. The morale felt good to start. I was a bit impatient to start, but it got better, especially after completing the Keene climb. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. I had some hand numbness on occasions when doing out of the saddle efforts. My triceps were sore on the descent while in the drops. Shaking them off seemed to help. Gear worked flawlessly, with the exception of the broken Blendr mount. The mystery clicks persist. Nutrition was good. I had oatmeal and a few grapes for breakfast. Other notes, I saw one cyclist today and some walker / runners.
