The weather has cooled off a bit. I got up later for the morning ride, but luckily the hot weather held up. It was around mid 70's or so with winds from the North West. I wore the standard summer kit. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it to the top of the descent in good average time. I cruised the downhill and put in two digs on the risers. I made it to the base in good average time. Once there, I headed back without hesitation. The legs took about a mile to settle in. After that, it was moderate tempo time. The landmarks went by quick and I had stuff to think about that helped pass time. After the first and second dips, I was doing better in the morale. The body was responding well. The weather was comfortable. I was doing real well in the morale after passing the "bridge". I kept my tempo going over the top. I was near max when I crested the summit. I took a few moments to recover on the bike and then headed to the mail lockers. I decided not to do the Bufallo Run today. I decided to mix a powder drink for good measure. Glad I did because I would have been out by the time I reached the summit of OTR. After mixing the drink, I headed to OTR. The legs were warm, so no warmup time needed. After making it to the summit of OTR, I pulled over and fed a Clif Bar. It was a treat for my efforts. Shortly after, I headed home. I pushed over Mariposa and then the dig to the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. I had stuff to think about. The morale felt good from the beginning. My patience was in check. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal and some grapes for breakfast. I fed a Clif Bar during the ride. I drank about one and a half bottles of sport drink with some water. Ailments were minimal. Just the usual hand soreness. The joints and muscles felt good. Gear worked flawlessly. I charged the Di2 just before departing. The mystery clicks persist, but I keep telling myself to re-torque the seat post. Other notes, I saw about 4 or 5 cyclists today. Some casual and some more serious. There was a small crowd at the Loop Monument. On the return, I hollered out "Nothing yet" to them (or something similar).
