It's supposed to get into the mid upper 80's. I tried to get out early, but could only manage to get out around 9:30AM. Nevertheless, it was actually on the cooler side. Winds from the North West. I wore the standard summer kit. I brought an extra bottle of water stashed in the saddle bag and some extra powder drink. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it to the summit of OTR in good average time. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation, but not so bad. I had matches to burn when I reached the top. I recovered on the flat segment and then headed to the top of Banducci. I made it there in average time. The descent was safe. The trek through the farmlands went quick. I think the wind shifted a bit at this point. After reaching the entrance to SS, I took a few moments to stretch. Then I made my way around the backside. I put in a good sprint on the downhill. I stopped at the local park to take a bio break. From there, I headed into town. I forgot to check the time at the tunnel, but I estimate around 1:06 hours or so. I stopped at the local mini mart to mix a powder drink. Then I got back on the road. The return was mostly steady tempo. I think the wind was starting to get a bit turbulent. I made it to Boss Hogs in around 1:28 minutes. I think I gave up about 3 to 4 minutes on the return. The last climb was steady tempo. Mostly moderate. After reaching the summit, I stopped to feed. I ate a Clif Bar with some water. Then I headed back. The wind did a 180 at this point. Route 202 had some traffic mitigation from behind. So, I was keeping an eye on them and making as much space as possible. Descending off OTR was fun and games. I pushed over Mariposa and then the dig to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I had minimal lapses and plenty to think about. No gremlins to worth mentioning. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. Just the usual hand soreness. Although, my right outer knee was hinting on soreness on a few occasions, but never escalated. Nutrition was good. I fed a Clif Bar and drank about one and a half sport drink bottles. I had oatmeal and some grapes for breakfast. Gear worked flawlessly. The new shorts feels like I'm floating on the saddle, making it feel like my tire went soft. I through me off on a few occasions. Other notes, I saw five or six cyclists today.
