Great day for a ride. Nice and cool. In the 50's. Winds from the north west. Good for Keene n Back ride. I wore the standard cool kit. I also brought my extra bag with a skull cap inside. I'm continuing to gradually gain weight. I'm nearing 140 lbs, now. The legs feel stronger. I made it to the summit of the descent in good average time. I cruised the downhill. Putting digs on the risers. Once at the base, I turned around and headed back up. The climbing legs were there from the start. I think I was pushing it just a bit more than the previous time, on this route. Withing my limits, though. The HR monitor was off. Reading in the 200's. So, either a new battery is in order, or I need to get a new HR strap, watch, etc. I was counting off the landmarks and it went quick. I had a few things to think about and that helped me stay focused. There was a convention of some sort going on. I saw some old-school Model-T like cars headed down to Keene. It put a smile on my face a few times. I was thinking to myself what it would be like on the GranFondo, if I did the half century. I was thinking, I could red-line it was much as I want on this climb, because that would be the last of it. Just the trip back into town and done. I think I could definitely do that. Concentration was good. Balance and form was good. Ailments, I think some mild right hand soreness. The ball of my right foot was slightly tender, about half way up the climb. Never escalated. Gear worked great, other than the HR monitor not working. Other notes, no other cyclists today. Just the entourage of Model-T cars passing me (descending) as I was climbing.
