I decided to get out earlier than usual today. The weather was predicted to be in the 90's. When I left, the temperature was already in the 80's. It was an interesting ride today. I felt especially fatigued. I don't attribute this to the high temperature, but the time I got up and departed. Being that I usually ride in the early afternoon, there are two things happening here. One, I eat by 9:30 AM, sleep for an hour or so, get up and ride around 12 PM. This gives my body some time do digest the morning meal. The other issue is the time of the day. I'm guessing that my body has gotten used to the afternoon's ride time. Given this result, I want to do the next 3 to 4 rides early in the morning to see if I can get my body adjusted to the early day. The reasoning behind all this is that I want to be as ready as possible come the Gran Fondo. Now for the ride. My legs felt ok getting to the start of the descent. The downhill was mostly soft pedaling. The climb felt ok as I got passed the Caesar Chavez center, but shortly after, I noticed that my body was fatiguing more than usual. I was forced to adjust my pace accordingly. The temperature was high with little wind. That definitely had something to do with it. Also, my mind was concentrated, but felt lethargic the entire ride. I just didn't snap out of that morning slumber feeling. Ailments were almost none. I had some hand numbness and that was pretty much it. Gear is working great. No mystery clicks and all other is working perfectly. Other notes, there were at least 10 riders that I crossed paths with.
