Weather is great. In the 70's, winds from the North West. Perfect day for a Tour de Teh (SS,R) route. Today was one for concentration. The legs felt good from the start. I made it to the end of OTR in good time. I was concentrating more on traffic than anything going up Banducci. I was out of the saddle a lot. The legs was hinting at soreness, but never escalated. Just felt like the usual grind up the mountain. When I reached the summit (in good time), I let traffic by, hydrated a bit and then headed downhill. I was able to practice my tuck and take the safe lines around the blind corners. No risks, as usual. More of the same getting to SS. There was traffic, and I was constantly keeping my situation awareness. Concentration was there, but was needing attention. When I approached the climb to the backside of SS, I didn't want to see my overall time till I reached the summit. So, I switched views on the GPS. The downhill was a treat. I pushed it to about 35ish and then tucked. I reached 40MPH. When I reached the tunnel, I checked my GPS and I was on good time. 1 Hour almost exact. I made my way around SS and headed back on Banducci. The wind was generous and I was looking forward to it. I had the music volume turned down to hear for traffic. The miles went quick. I did the same thing on the flat lands. I changed views on the GPS till I reached Boss Hogs. When I got there, I was thinking that I lost 2 minutes since the tunnel. To my surrpise, I was at 1:20 almost exact. So, the time was good! I made my way to the last climb. The first riser was into the wind, but then turned tail or tail-cross from that point forward. I kept the tempo going. Out o the saddle frequently. No pushes over the top. But, I kept my tempo going. So the power was down till I reached the summit. After that, I pulled over to swap batteries on my camera, and got back on the road. I practiced riding free-handed half way through the false flat. It felt good. I'm getting better at it. From there, it was Route 202. I let traffic go by and then made my way down. No traffic from behind, so it was safe. After that was mostly fun and games. Concentration was the challenge today. There were these dark patches in some areas. Some gremlins just doing who knows what. Suffice it to say. It was the lesser of things. Fortunately, I was able to hold it together. I was focused most of the time. Such a strange one today, in contrast to just a few rides ago. Ailments... some quad soreness, right hand numbness. I think my knees were complaining once in a while. I want to adjust the cleats to put my foot just a bit forward. The calfs were complaining just a bit, too. Balance and form felt good. Probably the better of things. Gear worked great. With the exception of the Charity app. I was certain I started it before departure, but apparently it didn't. No mystery noises today. The bike was behaving very stealth. Other notes, I saw just one cyclist today as I was nearing the end of my ride. I'm thinking about Caliente. The window of opportunity would be in the next 7 to 10 days before the heat sets in. All dependent on the forecast. I think Wednesday looked good. It puts me on par with my current schedule. More about that later.
