The weather continues to be ideal. Although the wind wasn't in my favor, for a WS ride, I decided to go there anyways. Weather is in the low 70's. Winds from the north west. The legs felt responsive from the start. I made it through OTR in good average time. I kept in mind the return trip was going to take a while. I made my way out through Highline and then turned around at the end. In the meantime, I noticed my right arch on the foot was getting sore. I loosened the shoe, but it still persisted. Not to detracting, but definitely noticeable. After reaching the turn-around point, I headed back. I started modest. Letting my legs to warm up and the mind to settle in. It took about 5 minutes before I got the feeling of the tempo. I was hardly going 15MPH into the wind. Very discouraging, but I tried to keep my mind focused. After reaching Tucker, I kept in mind that the climb would take about 7 minutes. I made my way up. Out of the saddle most of the time. I kept the power down over the top and then eased up once I made it over the top. From there I relaxed to the last kicker. The worst was behind and I was able to enjoy the remainder. Concentration was good. Few lapses. I was in the zone, most of the time, but drifted here and there. Ailments, right arch of the foot was sore. Will have to inspect the shoe. It was not like this on the Caliente ride and I didn't adjust the cleat since then. Balance and form felt good. Gear worked great. No mystery noises on the bike. Other notes, there were butterflies in the thousands (no kidding). Some of which were bouncing off of me as they were flying across the road. Very surreal. I saw one cyclist today. I didn't see any gliders out near WS.
