Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time. I did a quick indoor ride today. I wanted to let my body recover a bit. I got up later than I planned, so my time was limited. I chose a NY map since they just released some new route. I chose one that was around 17 miles. My plan was to ride for 30 minutes. Getting the gear ready went without issues. When I hopped on, I started modest as I normally do. Somewhat getting accustomed to the Madone. It took a bout 5 minutes till my balance equalized. The map was mostly flat with undulating segments here and there. It was peppered with timed zones. I did not recognize most of the course, so it was new to me. I was able to hold around 3 W/kg on the short climbing segments. I was not interested in placing on the leader board for the timed segments, so I went at my own pace. The time went quick. Before I knew it, I was passed 20 minutes. At 30 minutes, I was a bit passed half way in distance. I was tempted to complete the route, but decided to stick with the plan. I made it to a segment that had elevated streets with translucent roads. I decided to see if I can could make my way off that area before calling it a ride. I ended up riding an extra 5 minutes when i called it. I took a few minutes to cool down. I n that time, I found myself in the subway system. I let my HR go down to 112 BPM and then hopped off.
Concentration was good. I was in the zone most of the time. My patience was in check. The morale was sufficiently good. Balance and form felt good. Ailments were minimal. Just the usual hand soreness. I road bare-handed, so perhaps that had something to do with it. Shaking them off every few moments did the trick. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal, half a banana and some grapes for breakfast. I drank more than half my sport drink, no water. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, I think there were close to 2000 riders when I hopped on.
