I got up and the skies were partly cloudy. Didn’t seem like it was going to rain. I had breakfast and then took a quick nap. When I got up, I could see dark clouds on their way. So, I decided to stick with the plan and ride indoors. I chose the London Loop route. The plan was to a negative split with two laps. Setting things up went without a hitch. The legs felt pretty good to start. I allowed them to warm up before laying the power down. It took about 10 minutes to reach the base of the Box Hill climb. I started moderate and then alternated in and out of the saddle efforts. I tried not to go much above 3 W/kg. The time went quick. That's why I like this route. I kept the tempo going over the top. From there, I recovered just a bit and headed back to town for the second lap. I put in a dig on the tunnel riser. As planned, the second lap went quicker. I was sufficiently warmed up, so I was able to keep the power down from the second lap get-go. The second Box Hill climb was no less than moderate tempo. My HR was near 150 as I reached the half way point. I kept the tempo high going over the top. I put it a negative split by about a minute or so (plus or minus). After that, the morale felt good and I headed back to town. I put in another dig on the tunnel riser and then to the finish. I was pushing it because I wanted to break 30 minutes for the lap. And, I did. So, that felt good. After that, I commenced the cool-down, and a few minutes later, I hopped off after the HR went back down to 112 BPM.
Concentration was good. I was a bit impatient to start. Perhaps impatient in other places too. Otherwise, I was in the zone. Balance and form felt good. Ailments were minimal. Not much hand soreness this time. The knees felt good and the inner hips didn't complain. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal, a banana and grapes for breakfast. I fed half a banana and some grapes before hopping on. Gear worked flawlessly. Although, I did experience a partial outage while riding. More like a blip. It didn't detract from the ride. Other notes, there 1600 riders when I hopped on the map.
