The weather is great! In the 50’s, mostly sunny. Winds were from the South East. A good day to go to the Alpine Forest. I wore arms, knees, thick + thin base layer, head cap, face mask and some newspaper in the jersey. After I had breakfast, I took a quick nap and then put the kit on and headed out the door. The legs felt pretty good to start. I did good time to the summit of OTR. After making it to the summit, I stopped to remove my head cap, face mask and the newspaper I had in my jersey. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation, so I was on situation awareness the entire way up. I was able to relax a bit on the Arosa climb. There was some traffic, but there was plenty of room. The time went quick. I was listening to my music and announcements. Before I knew it, I made it to the speed bumps. I was near max going over the top. I made my way around the backside. I reached 40 MPH on the descent. Then I headed to the top of Banducci. I took a few moments to recover. I decided to put my head cap and face mask back on. I let traffic by and then headed back down the mountain. There was some traffic from behind, but it was safe. I kept to the right and remained slow. The wind wasn't too turbulent, so I wasn't getting knocked around much. From there, I made my way down the Banducci Wall descent and then back to OTR. The OTR descent was partially into a headwind. I was able to relax and enjoy it. I pushed over Mariposa and then to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I had stuff to think about. The morale felt good. My patience was in check. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. Just the usual hand soreness. Perhaps a bit on the triceps on the descents. The muscles and joints felt good. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal, a banana, some grapes for breakfast. I drank most of my sport drink, no water. Gear worked flawlessly. The bike is whisper quiet now. Other notes, no cyclists today. There were some motor-cyclists and a walker or two.
