Today's ride went well in many respects. The weather was cool, 60ish degrees. Winds from the north. I wore arms and standard clothing. I was debating on whether to ride today as I woke up with sore muscles. After doing stuff for a few hours, my body started to feel better and I decided to do the Keene ride as I planned. My legs felt good right from the start. I didn't require much of a warmup. I attribute this by in large due to the cool dense air. I soft-pedaled the downhill and reached the base in good time. Usually, my legs feel heavy for the first mile or so on the ascent. But today was different. I felt responsive and my legs weren't heavy. I did nothing less than moderate tempo and put in the most effort where the slopes were maxed out. After going through the loop monument, I throttled back the tempo just a bit and then brought it up after 5 minutes or so. Concentration was good. I was in the zone for most of the ride. Balance was also very good. I was on top of the pedals and turning over nicely. Ailments were next to none. Gear is working well, no problems there. Other notes, when I got out the door, I noticed that my walkman had run out of batteries. I ended up using my smartphone as a backup and it worked nicely. When I stopped at the bottom of Keene, I checked the charity app and it was working and accurate. Overall the app was off by about 2 miles or so.
