I make no secret of using e-assist, it's been a hard road back from my 2020 heart attack and, since starting this nth attempt to rebuild my endurance at brevet speed, I've been going for distance first. Strength will come with distance over time. With that in mind, every ride since January has been at 100% "euro boost", 250w, tapered and tailored by the electronics to need and economy.
On Saturday just gone, I achieved my first 50km at better than 20km/h, but that ride, and every ride before it has been at 100% boost. Remember, riding, at this stage for endurance and brevet speed. Today, I went out at 80% boost - 200w Euro-style, 4 bars, not 5 - on a route that was a little more elevation over distance (200m over 32km compared to 170 over 50km) and was barely 1km/hour slower average speed. WITH TWENTY PERCENT LESS BOOST!!!
So, from here, the next few weeks will be about rebuilding back to 50km in a sitting, but at 80% e-assist, then repeat at 60% and, so on. Once I can get to 40% boost, I'll start looking to cautiously extending out to 100km in a day in 2 sittings, either side of a lunch stop. All of this as Melbourne moves into its chilly, wet winter. I have the smell of the roads in my nostrils again!
Now, if I can only get the knackered bottom bracket out of my 90s "acoustic" restomod build...

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.

Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.
