After being lulled ino summer yesterday it was raining today ! I delayed my start and eventually set off at 9:30. The rain was steady but should just gradually ease.
My roure followed a wide flat river valley south for pretty much 50miles then a 15 mlle easterly curve into Daegu.
Nit much opportunity for photos so I voncentrsted on the cycling and it was actually peaceful and enjoyable.
I had met two Koreans yesterday 15miles from Nankong, they had a farmstay arranged and were waiting for their lift at one of the stamp points.
Suspiciously this morning I passed them unloading their bikes from a van 15 miles south of Nakdong at the next stamp point. Had they just missed 30miles ???
Anyway we exchanged friendly waves as I sped past.
After 20 miles I reached a city called Gumi and had the excitement of crossing the river nit once but twice!. I was industrial and as I passed an LG factory I couls also smell a nearby chemical plant that took me back to my college days - that sweet smell if methyl ethyl ketone !
After the second bridge and almost halfway I stopped for coffee and a snack and a coffee shop with a lovely terrace and view of the river, I stayed in the warm i side and I just beat a rush.
The rsin wad now just bearly there but although I was dry inside the external water and a cold wind chill werent ideal.
20 miles if more focussed cycling and I reached the junction of two rivers where a large metallic turd shaped building marked the spot - I took a picture !
15 more miles, 12 of which were easy akongvthe riverside track, then the last 3 were tricky along big avenues and sidewalks with long traffic light sequences but I reached my hotel which had reception on the 7th floor.
I locked the bike on the street, checked in, then cleaned the bike before bringing it up !
Tomorrow I cycle off back into the countryside to a small town called Nami-ri that looks like something out of the wild west and Im booked into another dodgy love motel called the Brown Dot ... Wish me luck !
