Natalie took the day off and wanted to do a long ride today. The original plan was to do Lobitos to HMB but then she was too tired from doing a long ride yesterday. The pivot was to do Dirt Alpine and lunch but then this morning her tire wouldn't hold air. I tried to convince her to ride her MTB but leg and fit issues meant we were pivoting back to riding road. She wasn't sure where she wanted to ride so I suggested some #roadbikesoffroad at Coyote Hills. It was perfect over there. No wind, glassy bay, the hills were still green and there were wildflowers, and there was plenty of wildlife. Natalie was very excited to see the wildflowers and even ended up with some pollen on her nose from smelling them. And we'd been talking about the allergy meds we needed to take so it was funny to imagine her face covered in pollen like Al Pacino in Scarface. :) We finished it up with lunch at State of Mind. TIL Natalie is the only person to use as much, actually probably more, Ketchup than me. Together we almost finished off the bottle. Granted there were a lot of fries. Considering they were still of the overcooked variety that everyone seems to love serving, the fries were still pretty yummy. After lunch it was starting to get hot and, honestly, we were both ready to call it. I was looking forward to riding the Epic EVO and testing the new tires on prolonged pavement riding to see if they did as well as the old tires but today was so nice. It's rare these days to get much joy from a road ride (beyond the social interaction) but today was one of those days.
