This was the first double since late July. I got up early and departed closet o 8 AM. The legs weren't heavy, but average. I felt a slight lacking in energy on the first hour of riding. The Keene climb was so-so. In terms of ailments, there were minimal. In terms of energy, I felt it lacking. I'm not sure what it was. I had the usual breakfast, eggs on toast. My energy level didn't get much better as I was climbing. I kept that in mind, and played it on the conservative side. When I reached the summit, I pulled over and consumed half a Power Bar. I met up with mom at the mailboxes. I had the other half of my Power Bar ,swapped bottles and then headed back out. I think the legs were feeling just a bit better at this point. I made my way up OTR. Some places felt labored, but mostly average. The Banducci wall was a bit tough. I had to mitigate traffic. When I reached the summit, I fed half of a Cliff Bar. I headed downhill, practicing my tuck. Breaching 42 MPH. The trek through the farmlands was enjoyable, now that they added a shoulder. I was doing mostly 18-20 MPH to SS. Made my way through the backside and fed my other half of Cliff Bar at the summit. I don't remember what my time was, going through the tunnel. Made my way through SS and headed back. Again, much better with the shoulder. I was doing mostly 15 - 18 MPH. The last climb felt ok. Not great, but the legs felt reasonably responsive. No cramping today. I was stretching often. Gear worked great. The GoPro stopped recording on more than 1 occasion, but I got it to restart with minimal effort. The camera battery was fully charged for the duration of the ride, via the battery bank I mounted. When I reached the summit of CVR, I fed another half of a Power Bar, and the other half while riding. Practicing my no handed riding. From there, it was mostly traffic mitigation and fun and games. Other notes, I saw about 6 to 8 cyclists today.
