There's a road in the Alpine Forest that branches off Alps Drive. I decided to go there and investigate. I did the usual Alpine Forest route and then navigated to a road called Mountain Climbers Road. The first 1/4 mile is over 10% in gradient. I was having to tack my way up it. It levels off and then heads south. After another 1/4 mile or so, it dips into a canyon. The gradient is very steep. In the 14 to 16%! I got a look where the road heads. After the steep descent, it continues into the mountain. From what I could tell, there the paved road turns to a dirt road, and then winds it's way through. I decided to turn around and ended up walking back to where it levels off. When I was heading back, there's a road called William Tell Road. It heads east. I decided to keep going back as the road appears to have wet tarmac. Definitely a place for more investigating. As for the remainder of the ride... I decided to head down into CV and then back via Pelliesier. The legs felt average, nothing super special. Other than no ailments. I fed a Power Bar when I was half a mile into Peliisier. I made my way to the last climb. The climb felt reasonably good. The legs remained average. No soreness. No serious digs, just kept the power down over the top. Then recovery. I fed the last half of my Power Bar while riding no-handed. From there, mostly fun and games. My current weight is about 130 lbs. So, I gained a few pounds in the past 10 days or so. I think i'm on par with my TGF preparation. I'm debating what to do on Sunday. I was thinking of doing another double. I have about 10 days to complete my training before tapering a bit. Gear is working great. No issues. The bike is silent. Concentration was good. The new mp3 speaker worked like a charm.
