As per the in-door training session earlier today. I decided to add the Keene n Back ride. I was on par for a double, and the weather didn't cooperate, thus the adjustment made for today's plan. I felt real good. The in-door training session warmed up the legs and opened the lungs up a bit. I made it to the summit in good time. I made my way down to Keene. Before the ride, I fed half my Cliff Bar. I fed the other half when I reached the top of the descent. I turned around at the base, no resting. There were two other cyclists that were on their way down when I was descending. I was trying to calculate if they were going to catch me. both appeared to be my equal or better. I kept doing the numbers after I reached the landmarks. After reaching the second dip, I was encouraged that they hadn't bridged. Turns out that, I made it to the summit before they could catch me. I was doing high tempo almost the entire way up. Doing 150+ BPM. Maxing out at the summit. It was a big effort, but the body and mind were responding well. Very encouraging. The ailments were minimal. Some hints of muscle tightness in the legs. But adjusting by tempo mitigated that ailment. Other notes: When I got home, my sides were aching. I'm not sure why. But I had to go straight to bed with icing. I was in quite a bit of pain for about 30 minutes. I've since recovered and feel much better. I should also note, that I had a bad night, yesterday. The side pains came back and I had to spend an hour just to fight it. My bad for eating too much. Nature always wins!
