It's getting colder. When I woke up and had breakfast, the temperature was around 32 degrees. I could see the roof tops, frosted over. I ended up taking a nap till about 10:30. I got up, got dressed and headed out. I wore arms, knees, cap, and thick base layer. Turned out to be the perfect amount of clothes. The wind was from the South East. I flew to the top of WTR. Well under 8 minutes. The descent was a treat. I had a nice tailwind. I think I reached over 43 MPH.
I put in two good digs over the risers. All the while, I was thinking what the return trip was going to be like. I was prepared for the worst. I made it to the base in about 22 minutes (a scorching time, for me). I turned around and headed back. I decided to keep all my gear on, so no stopping. The landmarks went quick. I was happy to find shelter in the mountains. I was fighting the headwind on the open areas. Even then, it wasn't as bad as I anticipated. After reaching the first dip, I had shelter from the wind. So, it felt more turbulent than anything. The legs felt responsive today. No bogging down. I had a few things to think about, so that kept me company. That and my music player. By the time I reached the summit, I had lost all the advantage that I gained from the out-bound leg with the tailwind. No digs over the top. I kept the pedals ticking over. Concentration was good. Balance and form felt real good. Ailments, next to none. Gear worked flawless. I made it on one GoPro battery, today. Other notes, no cyclists out there.
