Wanted to do the Burkes Garden metric century, but since @ the turnaround point I might need fluid replenishment, and I will not willingly set foot in the little nasty abysmal convenience store that is for sale in Gratton, AND Matties General Store is closed on Sundays correctly, decided to drop it down a notch to the enjoyable Reverse Kimberling into Grapefield Loop. Early on mostly cloudy & surrounded by trees & a gentle breeze, felt like growing up in Massachusetts in the house in Scituate, w/ a terrific breezeway. Later some thicker gray cumulus clouds gave way to more sun & the heating took those balmy breezes up to 15-18mph, especiallyw/ Bernouille effect between ridges. But no matter which partof the ride, it seemed to always be a headwind of some sort. Saw no deer or bear today, since late start. Just 1 wary snapping turtle, given a wide berth. Just b/c I don't see or hear most of the bigger wildlife, I mused today, how many big critters are close-by & watching me. And can the bears smell my raisins, apricots, pineapple, or PowerBlocks? Hopefully they don't like seeing 4 epileptic flashing lights or listening to Christian rock for the 1st half, or Philadelphia Flyers Stanley Cup Playoffs ice hockey, which is really weird in AUGUST. No flat tires or falling trees along Clear Fork, & great ride weather, not as hot as poor Dr. Grouse's ride yesterday & I shouldn't complain about wind as Brent dealt w/ an approaching tropical storm or possibly hurricane this AM. Bad vacation timing, Brent!
