Messed up ride - series of unfortunate circumstances.
1) got up late, so late ride start;
2) pulled in to Rocky Gap United Methodist Church @ start of I suspect virtual Sunday School classes & felt like an intruder, even though we have been watching our church on-line during the Wuhan coronavirus;
3) inadvertently shut off the Garmin Edge recording of the ride w/ my knuckle while taking purple flower pics for Katy, who still feels awful, about 1/2 way down the I-77 access road, & didn't realize it until about 1/4 to 1/3 of the way down Wilderness Road to the back side of Kimberling Rd., so failed to log in about 5-7 miles, about 20-35 minutes, & about 300-400' of ascent;
4) forgot to mark the lap until ~1/2 mile down Grapefield;
5) failed to see my Grapefield bear for a 2nd chance @ a picture;
6) took a rear flat about 1/2 way down Clear Fork Creek Rd, didn't feel like dealing w/ the rear wheel & derailleur without a safe place & without poison ivy on the side of the road to upend the bike & not scratch it up, plus I was hot & tired & just felt bike-grease-averse at the moment, so I called Holly to arrange for her to get the SUV from RGUMC, & come to pick me up, so I walked about 2 miles & then bailed on the last ~6 miles returning to RG to get her car for today, so overall lousy stats, avg. speed, total miles, etc.;
7) almost got the SUV clobbered by a huge tree falling across the road about 1.5 - 2 miles out of RG, I saw an enormous section of leaves violently moving, then the tree swinging down just in my sight from upper L portion of the windshield if I leaned forward as I tapped the gas & swerved R, got swiped by branches @ L rear of truck & landed between us & Tahoe just following us - but it didn't get the BIKE, the most important thing.
I want an uneventful ride.
Hope I don't end up 10 miles short of 2020 miles total by the end of the year, as I know of no way to recover that missing data from early on.
Does anybody know what that Stonehenge-like rock garden is along Clear Fork, I think just before leaving Tazewell County & entering Bland County?
On a positive note, I do think I climbed better today on the back of Kimberling & the front of Grapefield. Odd how I call them front & back.
