We couldn't decide where to ride today. We were trying to avoid doing any back roads up in the mountains in case there were any mud slides or downed trees. Since I had done the loop around the southern tip of the bay a couple times recently, we decided to go down to Morgan Hill.
Before we started, I found a dead bird on Bob's driveway. A bad omen for the ride.
Once again, it was difficult to figure out what to wear. I ended up adding layers, and although it was warmer than our Santa Cruz ride where I wore the same amount, I felt cold... until all of a sudden I didn't. But once we got into the ride and temps normalized, everyone was feeling comfortably and perfectly dressed.
Santa Clara County pro - lots and lots of bike lanes. Con - the put their trash, mostly yard litter, in said bike lanes. That and the recent storm left a lot of branches and debris in the bike lanes to dodge.
We decided to cut out the Uvas Reservoir loop because it was looking like we might not make it back before sunset.
We had a nice tailwind on the way back from lunch in Morgan Hill. Normally it's a headwind so being able to zip through the boring garbage miles on the way back was nice. I think that also helped get us back well before sunset. We could've even done the extra loop and would've gotten back in time.
Oh, and remember the dead bird at the start? Nothing bad ended up happening... luckily. :P

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time. Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.
