It was too nice out not to go for a spin, especially since the blue skies are going to disappear later today with more rain overnight into tomorrow.
I couldn't decide where or what to ride and went with staying close to home. So why not do some more flat pedals shakedown?
The first time, I thought climbing felt harder because my legs were dead but I'm beginning to think that's not the case. It felt like I was climbing in at least a gear or two harder than I was.
Over the bumps, my feet planted on the pedals but with the pegs, they're not always planted in the spot I want them and shifting requires lifting the foot off and repositioning instead of simply sliding.
I tried a jump and both my feet came off a little and came right back down on the pedals luckily. The weirdest thing happened later when I was trying to power up a climb and my foot came off and pushed out in front of the pedal. I don't know how I escaped injury and scraping my calf but I did.
I discovered this nice little unmarked trail on yesterday's hike that connects Headbanger's Ball #1 & #2 in an easier loop.
I felt more comfortable on the singletrack of Headbanger's, on the flat pedals but still haven't been able to do the switchbacks. All of today's downhill switchbacks have been left turns - my nemesis!!!

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
