Originally intended to be a MTB ride but switched to road because of the rain and to get in some miles.
I was originally going to ride my Tarmac to get in a bikefecta this week but when I woke up, I saw rain in the morning forecast before the ride. But at the start of the ride, the roads were dry. Little did I know...
Also struggled to figure out how to dress for the ride. I was worried I'd be overdressed but I think I was just right to a little underdressed.
We started late because the mobile mechanic was late for Melinda's appointment to fix her dropper post.
Once we got going, it was lunch time so we tried to get some buns from Lung Fung but they were closed.
And on the way to Point Richmond, I mistakenly thought we were close to In-N-Out. We both got super excited about getting some burgers until we realized we were already too far north and about to cross the bridge.
The Richmond-San Rafael Bridge was super windy. Felt like a headwind in both directions.
Point Richmond ended up being really cute. Chased some groundhogs and did some road bikes off-road!
On the way back I wasn't sure if I was seeing rain coming down on the mountains or if it was just fog. Turns out it was rain. On the way to In-N-Out, it was mostly just mist but after eating, it was rain.
We were so hungry, another passed 3p lunch 2nd day in a row, that I didn't even get any shots of the food. We just wolfed it down like animals and I just got shots of the aftermath. :)
There was no rain in the forecast, not until much later tonight anyway. I even brought my Gore ShakeDry jacket and fender just in case but left them in the car. We both got soaked and a little cold but we couldn't help laughing at how crazy the ride had gotten.
Oh, and once again, we got caught out after sunset. Luckily, I brought my light. The combo of rain and dark made for a really epic ride. I think it was about 20 miles of rain and about 45 minutes post-sunset.
One of my most fun Valentine's Days in a long time. :)
