After missing 2 weeks of riding due to high heat in the 90's evening rain, my Mother in the hospital for 9 days, my son and his family visiting me up from Texas and helping my brother installing wood floor upstairs in his home my plate was over flowing. With my brand new new bike completely set up, fitted and ready to roll with the temperature to my liking, I went out to test the bike, I didn't realize it was going to rain with some lightning and increased winds. I didn't want to take the bike out in rain conditions but it wasn't super bad as I cut the ride 10 miles short. About the bike I got was a crash replacement, it was upgraded to the only frame they had in the sizes I needed in the Foil series in the USA... any other frame would have to come from Europe. I agreed to the upgrade not knowing the cost difference but that was even done at a discount for me. I was about to upgrade the old Foil to Dura Ace Di2 and Dura Ace drive set,, new deep dish carbon wheelset and new carbon aero drop bars all purchased over the past 2 years. It only made sense to bite the bullet to get the frame as expensive as it was. I thought the old Foil rode nice and fast, this bike was flawless, responded to every movement I made, the power transfer was instant and sooth. I could feel the road and the feedback not in a negative way as the bike dampened the harshness of the bumps be it only 13 miles of the ride was not on newly paved roads! I was amazed how good this bike felt. there are 3 things I will be doing in short time, replacing the stem with a shorter one that is coming in but hopefully it will fit the setup that Scott uses on this bike replacing the compact chainring set to a sub-compact 52/36T and use the the 50/34T only for big hill climbing rides and finally install the bar tape which is on order (the original bar tape I decided not to use it matches the bike perfectly but with my yellow Selle SMP saddle and tires the new bar tape is a much better look, besides the aero bar highlights and color matches the bike perfectly as if it was made for it). Finally the new direct drive brake system is superb, feels even during the rain! The bike was super light until I added front lights and mount, batteries and case, Garmin, Cycliq front camera and stem mount, water bottles and cages, Cycliq front camera used on rear for the bright light mounted to saddle rails, saddle bag and Garmin rear radar! Not sure what all that weighs but it does add up and can easily be removed for racing.
