I've been in the mood for an indoor ride. today was ideal. I had an early morning appointment. So, this ride fit the time allotted. The trainer had some issues today. I got it to work for most of the mountain climb. I was eager to get started and the legs felt good from the start. I was good to go when I reached the base of the climb. I was doing good tempo most of the way up. Out of the saddle for the majority of the climb. In the saddle to wipe sweat and let the legs recover. I was doing good time, putting over 3 W/kg for the majority of the climb.
When I reached the end of the tunnel, I noticed that the wattage was incorrect on Zwift. I was putting out about 200 watts, and Zwift showed about 100 or less. Not sure what's going on. Either radio interference, the Ant+ dongle, or the trainer. Will have to trouble-shoot it later. I estimated that I lost about 20 seconds due to the incorrect reading. Nevertheless, I put in a good time. Good enough for top 20. After reaching the finish of the first climb, I let up and allowed the HR to recover. I then proceeded to the bonus climb. A weird thing happened. The wattage reading went the other way. It started to read above what it should have. Again, no clue. After reaching the summit, I started to fiddle with the pairing options on Zwift. None of which worked. I could see the reading from the Stages power meter, it was at 100-ish watts while the trainer was at 30 or so. Something is definitely going on. From there, I cruised back down the mountain and into town. The trainer continued to exhibit false readings. So, no point in going for a good time to the finish. I tried to figure it out after reaching the finish, but no solution yet. Concentration was good. The morale felt good. Balance and form was good. Ailments, some mild knee soreness, mild hand soreness. Gear, the trainer was giving false readings. The bike worked great. I used the Di2 cable extension. It worked like a charm. Nutrition was good. I had a Cliff Bar before the start of the ride. It helped. I had about 3/4 of my Gatorade. No water. Other notes, there were over 5000 riders when I hopped on.
