Fantastic spring weather! In the low 60's. Winds from the North West. I wore the standard kit, 1 base layer. I was going to wear my arm warmers, but took them off before departure. I felt good from the get-go. It didn't take me long before I got warmed up. I was able to do good tempo through OTR, making it to Route 202 in good time. I climbed Banducci starting at moderate, to Good, and a bit of High tempo over the top. I recovered on the false flat, and did good tempo with high tempo over the top. I took the one and only break at the summit. Descending was fun and games, I didn't push it much. Practiced my tuck position. Going through Banducci was mostly good tempo. Over the summit, I held my tempo, but no serious digs. I noticed that I was doing good time when I reached the tunnel in under 1 hour. After leaving SS and onto Banducci, I kept the tempo at around 18 to 20 MPH. Pelliser and the remainder of the farmlands was mostly good tempo, with some high mixed in. I reached boss hogs in good time. The last climb was mostly good tempo from the start. I put an effort over the top. As soon as I past the summit, I took a breather, stretched and made my way to Route 202. I did some traffic negotiating. Reaching about 35MPH to OTR. From there it was fun and games. I made a push over Mariposa and the kicker on Weston. My concentration was spot on today. I was reading my body, the road and weather conditions. And when I wasn't doing that, I had some stuff on my mind to keep me occupied. Ailments consisted mostly of lower back soreness and left hip soreness. I was constantly stretching at every opportunity. Balance and form is coming along nicely. Gear is working great. Other notes, I saw a Race.com utility van as I was making my way to SS. The first I've seen, as far as I can remember. I got my new soft-shell jacket today, it fits great and I hope to be able to user it at least once before the weather gets warmer!
