Today's weather was a bit deceiving. When I got up in the morning, it looked a hazy, but not so much. Later on, I got up from my morning nap and got myself ready to ride. About when I was filling up my bottles, I noticed that the low clouds had drifted in. From the looks of it, it appeared cold. Turns out that the weather was ideal. In the low to mid 60's. Winds from the North West and somewhat humid. I think I gauged my clothing spot on. I wore the standard kit, arms, knees, 1 base layer. I felt average going out the door. Somewhat sluggish to start. I made it to the end of OTR in average time. I planned on doing Banducci after coming back from Willow Springs. So I set my tempo accordingly. I was doing moderate tempo most of the way out. I think I bumped it up to good tempo here and there. After the turn around point, I started with a modest tempo and steadily brought it up. The wind wasn't especially strong, but it kept me from going much above 15 MPH for half of the return leg. I kept my tempo steady and got out of the saddle to push it over the summit. I recovered on the descent, stretching as I could. Banducci wall was mostly good tempo, and I put a dig over the top. The false flat was another recovery zone. From there, I did good tempo to the summit. I was concerned that the fog was going to roll in, but it didn't. It was perfectly safe. After reaching the summit, I turned around and headed back home. It was fun and games all the way to the end of OTR. I pushed it over Mariposa, not heroic. After that, it was the usual trek back home. My concentration was good for the most part. Some lapses here and there. Ailments consisted of general soreness in the legs, some minor lower back soreness. I was stretching constantly to mitigate. Balance and form felt good. Gear is working well. I oiled the chain today. Other notes, there were two other casual cyclists on Highline.
