I forgot to start recording at Buckhorn, but got most of the drive. When I was in elementary school, 3rd grade maybe, my teacher wrote on my report card, “Terri tends to be stubborn and this can interfere with friendships.” I didn’t really understand what stubborn meant, but it made me cry. My mom said, “Stubborn isn’t always a bad thing.“ She told me it can be used for good when we need to be strong to do what is right. I dried my tears and today I am grateful for that trait. As I thought, the power assist control went bad and will likely take through Thurs to receive & install the part. My 2-yr warranty ran out on 3/27, but Bosch is still covering it! But the REALLY Big deal about that is this …I asked to just buy the part so that I could pay overnight shipping (can’t on warranty), and when he checked the regular warehouse, out of 12 pgs of parts inventory, they have ZERO. Not one, either of my type or the new style. **I would likely have lost the use of my bike for the trip. So I am deeply grateful to wait. It still left me with some decisions to make. They could send the part to another shop some days on down the road and I ride in the pickup until then, with an unknown tech installing it, or stay here until it’s repaired and catch up one way or another. I chose the second option and said goodbye to my team as they dropped me off at a nice hotel. Swim, laundry, shower, eat, read, and hopefully sleep for 10+ hours, I’ll take it!! Backtracking, when my technician got off the phone with Bosch this aftn and confirmed what I was already semi-prepared for, the news combined with deep tiredness, and I wanted to find a corner to cry for just a minute before telling anybody. But there was no time for that, so I turned to making the decision then hotel reservations and going through my stuff in the trailer to pull out what I would need for approximately 4-5 days on my own. (6-7 now with shipping etc?) Now I am excited to rest and then have the challenge. I have been scared on the road before, I’m sure I will again, but it has always made me more confident afterward and I wouldn’t trade that. Oh goodness, I almost forgot! I missed yesterday’s excitement. Unfortunately, Kentucky is known for people letting their dogs just run. Many cyclists get bitten or knocked off their bikes. Cliff was almost pulled off his two days ago, but the dog was left shaking Cliff’s saddlebag rain cover in his mouth. Yesterday Kathy had to spray 7 dogs coming straight at her. One of those times, Dee was not too far behind … 😮
