Good weather for a change. Cool, but not cold, with intermittent sunshine. Something new: a downhill run. The ride was still just about flat, but for a time we followed a canal that runs a little downhill to Chalon. We spent a lot of time in Chalon-sur-Saone. Most of it was riding circles in this large city. The signage was very confusing. We had a picnic lunch at the Jardin Botanique. Michele and I went into the garden and visited the aviary. This is not the Verdun that hosted the end of WWI. The only rooms we could find are above a bar. The floor in my room has hills and valleys and sags underfoot. The light is a hanging bulb with a Chinese lantern covering the bulb. The toilet is new to me - it's electric! If you search long enough, you can find a button on the side that, when pushed long enough and hard enough, produces a kind of flush. Kind of. It plugs into the wall. I'll try to post a picture of some of the amazing artwork. The kebab shop looks like the safest choice here for dinner. We're off.
