BEST day EVER!!!
Woke up feeling weak like yesterday, just worn out. But I got up and did fine and better after breakfast.
The forecast said an 85° day, so last night I dug into my clothes for hot weather, and packed up my rain gear for now. I was laughing at the tanlines on my hands and legs after only 3 days, but now after today I have 3 stripes on my legs.🤦♀️ Back to the weather. Our nice warm sunny morning turned into a Missouri deluge. I pulled over on the side of the road and turned my back to the large hail stones and wind and absolute waterfall. The hailstones hurt my legs, I can only imagine what I looked like to passing drivers, standing there in my shorts without cover. We were close to Hartville, everyone else had hunkered down under trees, and we met up at the café in that town. Had a wonderful brkfst which gave me energy, and we had called Dave back and were grateful to get dry clothes.
Later it happened again but I thought it would pass as quickly, and rode through a deluge of over 90 minutes. Wind, lightning, thunder, the rain stung my face. I could feel water running down the back of my neck, down my skin under my clothes, and literally running out of my coat sleeves... I couldn't believe it!! I kept going, working to get to camp because tonight I was excited to meet up with my best friend and her husband, Carol and Tim Ferguson, who were driving to & from Joplin to see me!! It had been about 12 years since I've seen them. What a precious and wonderful visit!
I feel so good about today because I persevered through craziness to ride every mile. Being on old Route 66 was fun. And most of all, what a gift this evening♥️. I am so grateful for this day.
Good night🤗. No Wi-Fi at tomorrow's campground. A short ride so we get to sleep in!
