And Christopher, I added in a few for you too -hope you like them!💕 The Joplin ones are from me, and the Galena ones of the actual vehicles are from Tim & Carol.😀 Last night and today were so wonderful it’s hard to describe. First of all, we had a fun dinner out and nice visit afterward, and clean clothes, nice shower and a wonderful bed, hopefully never to be taken for granted again!!! Then this morning we went to church and I got to see Carol‘s parents, Gene & Lea Bass. They call me their second daughter and are precious to me. I flew back here for their 50th anniversary and found out that was 14 years ago, I didn’t realize it was so long since I had seen Carol and her family!😦 Today was also two significant anniversaries: I was in Carol & Tim’s wedding 42 years ago. I am so proud of them, in so many ways. It was amazing to be with them on this very day! And eleven years ago today, two tornadoes converged and cut a mile wide horseshoe swath through Joplin for 32 minutes, damaging or destroying one third of the buildings, including the high school, hospital, stores, apartments, homes. I remember trying to call Carol over and over for days as I watched it on the news. What I didn’t know until today's sermon and further research tonight was that in its aftermath, hundreds of children started speaking up, describing and drawing butterflies and “butterfly people“ that they saw during the storm, stationed between them w/ their parents and the funnel coming straight at them, or redirecting the parents thru the children into buildings where they were protected. Joplin openly celebrates the angelic protection from the witness of all these children who speak of it still today. The butterfly mural is a special park memorial, and there are butterfly figures all over Joplin. I had just never heard any of that, and think it is amazing. 🦋
