The weather is getting warmer, but today was nice. I got out around 9:30-ish. Winds from the North West. A good day for Stallion Springs. The legs were a bit heavy to start. I brought third bottle (and glad that I did). Unfortunately, it was slipping loose. I had to stop a few times to get it back into place. So, the ride was interrupted by having to stop every now and again. I felt better when I reached the summit of OTR. Banducci was partial traffic mitigation. So, I was always alert. After reaching the summit, I took a few moments rest and then headed down the mountain. There was a headwind on the way out to SS as was anticipated. I made my way around the backside and then into town. I think I reached the tunnel in about 1:07-ish hours. From there, I headed back onto the farmlands for the return trip. I had a nice tailwind, so I was able to relax. I reached Boss Hogs in about 1:28-ish hours. I don't remember the exact time. When I reached the base of the last climb, I pulled over to swap out the GoPro battery. When I checked the charge on the new battery, it showed 10%. So, that gives about 10 minutes of ride time. The battery I took out had 10% as well. So, I had to do the numbers in my mind. I calculated that I would make it back home with plus or minus a minute or two to spare. I decided to do high tempo up the climb. I reached the summit and the camera was still rolling. So, I just kept the hammer down till I reached OTR. The battery lasted till the top of Mariposa. I pulled over to swap the GoPro battery. That gave me another ten minutes, plenty to make it back home. Nonetheless, I kept the tempo high until I reached the top of Weston. From there, I shut it down to cool down a minute or two. The GoPro lasted the entire ride. Concentration was good. I had a few things to think about, the morale was high. I was a bit impatient in the first 15 minutes, until I settled into a zen tempo. Balance and form was good. I think the saddle height lowered a bit. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs. I ended up going through the second bottle of Gatorade that I brought. Ailments were minimal. Some minor hand numbness. Gear worked flawless. Other notes, I saw about 4 cyclists today.
