This was a fun day, we actually had tailwind for part of it. Coming down from the 2nd peak was steep & straight, and with the tail wind I hit 48 mph.
OH yeah!
Then there was a nice curve to the left, but I didn’t think about what happens to a hefty tailwind when you make a 90° left turn …Whoops! 😬 So at 48 I had to lean left into it to remain upright, but still wondered if the wind was going to pick me up bike & all and deposit me to the right of the road, seriously. It almost felt like I imagine a tornado. I just held my breath and coasted. 😅
I rode alongside a gorgeous mountain range most of today. The Bitterroot Mountains, part of the Continental Divide. We are still moving north and west. Beautiful. I stop and try to soak it up so I won’t forget.
A large expanse of counties here primarily raises various nutritious grasses to feed the cattle of Montana. These grass throwers in the photos get loaded with grass the volume of a small house before it throws it into enormous piles! I would love to see one in action.
Camping with vicious mosquitoes tonight. 🦟
They have FANGS! I have taken refuge in a restaurant as I write this. Will try my first-ever slice of buttermilk pie once it comes out of the oven and cools.😋
We have another rider joining us tonight, Paul Reisinger, due anytime now.
Then Dee leaves us Thurs for a fishing trip on the Snake.
I love fishing, but can’t imagine coming this far and not ending with my feet in the Pacific Ocean!
Well that’s it for tonight. Hopefully there will be something left of me after the mosquitoes take their chunks between the restaurant and bed, lol. 😋
Have a good night! ♥️terri
